While this can be argued as both a pro and a con, I love how I can run apps from 10 years ago on my PC. It's a lot easier to snap windows into various quadrants, whereas on macOS it's a nightmare, even with programs designed to help. There's a lot more choices and freedom to find a system that fits best for me.
While it's nice to know that macOS is optimized for a specific set of hardware, I prefer the flexibility to choose my own hardware and upgrade it if needbe. Plus I prefer how Windows groups everything together. It has always been weird to me how you have to cmd + Q in macOS to kill the application rather than closing the windows. I prefer the way the Windows Taskbar operates compared to the macOS Dock. The reason I use to Windows as my main driver, however, are the following: It makes no sense on a PC.Īs a user of the three major OS' (Windows, macOS, GNU/Linux), all of them have merit and it definitely depends on your use case. I could go on, but my point is, all those apps are just proxies for websites to circumvent adblock or are inherently gimped due to the sandbox nature of UWP. There are radio apps, why would I use a different app for every station I like, if I can just throw the direct stream url into Aimp and listen to them without installing 5 different apps? Or why would I buy and download a sandboxed app like "8zip", when I can have 7zip integrated into my right click and pay nothing for it? Most apps are also just web browsers for the website that made the app.
Which is bad, because I tend to chat with Steam friends while watching something or we even watch together by starting the movie together while on discord. However, the Windows 10 App has also the stupid buttons on the screen, being in the way of the film as soon as I only do so much as touch the mouse. Netflix on the other hand, delivers a different experience on different devices, via their website. It has the same player on the web as it has on mobile. I don't use the store, because the apps are utterly useless and it is just a pile of shovel ware and mobile bullshit.
